Junior Ella Borsheim of Bellarmine Prep in Washington, a Northwest individual representative in the Nike Cross Virtual championship, ran a lifetime-best 16:55.8 on the 5-kilometer course around Green Lake in Seattle on Friday to ascend to No. 2 overall in the national competition at the time of her performance. Borsheim returned to Tacoma after securing 19th place Sunday in the championship race at the XC Town USA Meet of Champions, presented by The Garrett Companies, clocking 18:12.7 on the 5-kilometer layout at the LaVern Gibson championship course in Terre Haute, Ind., her first head-to-head competition against other prep athletes since June. Borsheim has run sub-17:30 in all three of her NXV performances this fall.
